Celebrating 65 years

Welcome to the 65th season of The Stephen Foster Story at the beautifully renovated J. Dan Talbot Amphitheater.

It was the summer of 1957 when a group of farsighted people created the idea of a drama to ensure the music of America’s troubadour lived on. My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown was already dedicated to the memory of the composer, Stephen Collins Foster, and so it seemed natural to develop a show to bring his songs to people of all walks of life. Thank you to everyone who has supported our work over the last six decades to continue that mission.

The Stephen Foster Story was originally written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paul Greene in 1957 for our exclusive use. Attendees will join the ranks of nearly 3,000,000 patrons from all over the United States and many foreign countries who have sat in Amphitheater seats to enjoy the show.

The Stephen Foster Drama Association takes seriously our responsibility to bring the community together each summer.

Thank you so much for supporting The Stephen Foster Story!
